Watch List: Jonny Jack - Ain't No Sunshine
21-year-old Scottish singer/songwriter Jonny Jack brings to the scene a unique, raw, gritty voice that is perfectly suited to covey the heart-felt emotions that he sings about in what he describes, with a touch of humor, as songs that range from 'angry, passionate love songs to sad, passionate love songs'. Jack began singing at 14, and growing up in a home surrounded by music saw him being influenced by the likes of John Mayer, Nat King Cole and 'guys like Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, people like Sonny Boy Williamson, people that write music and feel as if they've lived the song', with Jack absorbing that ethos into his own music as he released an EP and began playing many prominent venues in Scotland and the U.K., including King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, The Royal Concert Hall and The Troubadour. His increasing profile and the buzz around his music saw him sign a publishing deal with Three Six Zero Group (Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Kelis), and he is currently working towards getting 'the debut album out sometime in the near future'. Here he shows off his distinctive vocals with a cover of 'Ain't No Sunshine' and a track of his own, 'Take Me Completely', courtesy of the BAAD Sessions.
