Adrian Daniel Proves That "Pride" Just Gets in the Way
Brooklynite and R&B new-comer, Adrian Daniel, shows off his clean, yet impassioned style on his new single “Pride.” This track calls back to a time when music was grooveable, yet lyrically heavy with Adrian describing it as a song “about [how] the absence of a father/mother could lead to the mistreatment of the person you love because you never got that love from your parent.” His delivery is urgent – almost pleading; the production sounds like something in between Kanye West and Stevie Wonder. And his vocal moves are reminiscent of Michael Jackson (especially when Adrian ad-libs with an occasional “woo” or “hoo”). And though his influences are apparent, Adrian's personality isn’t lost in between -- if anything, it leads you to want to hear more.
