Watch List: Aria Christian - Holocene
Boston native Aria Christian is an indie/pop/urban artist who describes her sound as 'eclectic'. As well as drawing on the influence of such artists as Whitney Houston, Coldplay, Kanye West, Bon Iver and Mumford and Sons, this eclecticism also draws on her appreciation of classical symphonies and love of the dramatic aspects of theater, with the aim of her music being to express her interest in 'fusing different styles together and experimenting'. She sees herself as an 'all around artist', priding herself on being hands on with every project she is involved with, and hopes through her work for the 'listener to feel something...whether it's a bad emotion or a good one'. She aims to bring a 'sense of imagery and personification to my writing, as well as really making a visual literal, yet obscure and dramatic', something that can be seen in the promotional video for her new song. She gained recognition in 2011 when her cover of the Kanye West and Jay-Z featuring Frank Ocean track 'No Church in the Wild' became popular on YouTube, the video now having reached almost one and a half million views on her channel. Here she covers Bon Iver's 'Holocene', and, below, is a live rendition of her original song 'Can I Get Your Attention'.
