Wayne Gidden Knows That It 'Hurts So Bad'
Channeling a classically soulful sensibility that sees the falsetto-hued beauty of his sensitively expressive and emotionally articulate voice framed by a poignant guitar, cooing harmonies and the punctuated swell of ruminative horns, U.K. singer and multi-instrumentalist Wayne Gidden offers the simple, but profound, words of comfort, 'I will hold you tight', in the face of life's trials and tribulations with the Good Boy Wolf-shot visuals for 'Hurts So Bad'.
Gidden's upbringing in Birmingham was surrounded by his mother's love of a diverse range of music, instilling in himself a similar passion for musical expression that saw him go on to teach himself guitar and begin songwriting. Moving to London, he connected with former The Beat and Fine Young Cannibals member David Steele, co-writing for Steele's new band Fried, penning the BBC Radio 2 Song Of The Week 'Whatever I Choose To Lose' and going on to appear on the BBC's 'Later...with Jools Holland' with the band. Continuing his songwriting for labels like Sony, Warners and Island, his own music is inspired by both the soulful sounds of Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and Bobby Womack and the more contemporary edge of Jay-Z and Lauryn Hill, with his song 'I've Changed My Ways' making the Radio 2 play list.
