Watch List: Saint Lu - Falling For Your Love (Live)
With a voice that effortlessly overflows with raw, blistering intensity and a from-the-gut, instinctive grit, Austrian singer/songwriter Saint Lu (Luise Gruber) has been compared to Janis Joplin, her uninhibitedly passionate delivery and heart-on-the-sleeve emotional honesty leaving no doubt as to the fire that burns within as she delivers an arresting in studio performance, with its bluesy, beat-box harmonica driven swagger, of her song 'Falling For Your Love'.
Saint Lu composed her first song at 13, and formed her first band at 14, drawing on influences from jazz to metal, and went on to be in a series of bands before participating in the Austrian T.V. talent show 'Starmania' in 2003. Having released an initial album in 2005, she was signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2009, under the pseudonym 'Saint Lu', saying it 'felt like everything [was] happening so fast, from one day to another somehow I had a record deal and I had concerts and gigs in many countries'. Influenced by the likes of The Black Keys, Ike & Tina Turner, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, she released her 'soul&roll' styled album 'Saint Lu' in 2009, going on to win a European Border Breakers Award in 2011, and followed up with both the album and acoustic EP '2' earlier this year.
