Watch List: Rainy Milo - 'Bout You (Live)
Precocious talent guided by preternatural self-assurance have been the foundations of 18-year-old U.K. singer Rainy Milo's rise to prominence - think of her instinctively sultry vocal tone; think of her refreshingly jazzy and hip-hop infused beats; think of her thoughtful, slice-of-life lyrics; all melded into an effortlessly authentic musical confection that is set to further cement Milo on the music scene in 2014. Assuredly self-aware, she dropped out of the prestigious Brit School to follow her artistic muse, 'I didn’t see the point of staying in school to study how to do stuff I already had the chance to do for real', Milo has made every post a winner since she burst into the consciousness of the music cognoscenti at 16 with her irresistible internet postings, confident enough in the vision of her own trajectory to forgo the inevitable record deal offers that came her way to take the time she felt necessary to consolidate her musical direction.
The release of her 'Black & Blonde' EP saw her receive support from both BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra and go on play shows and festivals at home and internationally in 2013, and, having been named by the Guardian as a 'Rising Star Of 2014', Milo recently stopped by the Brownswood Basement Studio of the BBC's legendary Gilles Peterson, an early champion of the London native, to give the Purple.FR-premiered first ever live session of her track 'Bout You', taken from her debut album 'This Thing Of Ours' set to be released March 3rd, Milo showcasing her uniquely infectious and smoothly addictive sensibility that she says is grounded in honesty and 'comes from a young voice...It’s a fresh voice. I think you can tell that a lot of the things I’m singing about, it’s the first time that it’s happened to me. Not naive, but innocent...I don’t know what the audience wants yet. In fact I don’t think about the audience. I do it for me.'
