You don't have to listen to Shreveport native Maggie Koerner for long before you realize that she is indeed a singular talent - intuitive and passionate, she delivers unfiltered and unrestrained emotion straight from the gut with a blistering intensity, the raw, bluesy soul of her keen, rasp-flecked vocal tone packing an irresistibly compelling primal urgency, here in evidence as she takes to a mule-drawn carriage for a trip around the streets of New Orleans to perform 'He Calls Me Mama' for BloodySundaySessions.com.
Saying that 'my purpose in this life is to try to bring happiness and healing to others through whatever gifts I've been given, and that's all it is about', Koerner moved from Shreveport to New Orleans at twenty-five to pursue her musical dreams, her incredible vocal talent soon seeing her connect and collaborate with renowned local band The Revivalists, and, as well as regularly performing in her own right, she is currently touring with legendary New Orleans funk and jazz band Galactic, with whom she recently concluded an European Tour. She released her debut album, 'Quarter Life' in 2011, which was followed by 'Neutral Ground' last year.
