Watch List: 'Only Love' Is What The Nth Power Will Have You Feeling
Hailing from a diverse range of backgrounds, but all drawn to the unifying spiritual essence of their collective musical 'mecca', New Orleans, the members of The Nth Power came together during an impromptu jam session at Jazz Fest 2012 in 'The Big Easy' to begin crafting their soul, funk, jazz, gospel and world beat inspired sound. Renowned musicians in the own right - Nigel Hall has toured with Lettuce, John Scofield and the Warren Haynes Band; Nick Cassarino came from the Jennifer Hartswick Band and toured with Big Daddy Kane; Nikki Glaspie was Beyonce’s world-touring drummer for five years before she joined Ivan Neville’s New Orleans funk outfit, Dumpstaphunk; Nate Edgar came from John Brown’s Body; and West African percussionist Weedie Braimah - the band reach deep within to channel an instinctively soulful and spiritually passionate ethos that seeks to uplift and heal, Braimah saying 'just know that when you hear this music, you're going to feel something -- you're going to connect with something higher than yourself'.
Releasing their 'Basic Minimum Skills Test' EP in 2013, the band have toured extensively as they bring their message of the redemptive power of love to the people, giving show stopping performances at festivals such as NOLA Jazz Fest, Electric Forest, Bear Creek, Catskill Chill and North Coast Music Festival. With their 'Abundance' album set for release in March, the band are soon to embark on their 'Winter Tour' 2015, with Glaspie saying of her 'dream team' of band mates, 'music is what brought us together, but it's the spiritual bond that makes us play so in touch with each other...we're going as far as you can go on the planet Earth and playing music... we are so blessed'.
