Watch List: Leroy Sanchez Speaks Music's Universal Lingua Franca, Talent
From a small town in Spain's Basque country, via YouTube, to Los Angeles and Miami, Leroy Sanchez found his passport to the world with music's lingua franca - talent. Driven by a passion for musical expression, the self taught singer/songwriter began uploading covers to YouTube at 15, soon gathering a following with the smooth sensitivity and euphonious tone of his voice. Among the admirers appreciating his voice - 'it reminded me of Usher or Justin Timberlake' - was Grammy-winning producer Jim Jonsin (Beyonce, T.I., Kelly Rowland, Lil Wayne) who invited Sanchez to Miami to meet, with Sanchez soon signing to Jonsin's Rebel Rock Label.
Moving to California, and having further swelled his YouTube following to nearly half-a-million with the emotive beauty of his voice, Sanchez has been collaborating with leading producers and songwriters including Jonsin, Rico Love, Danja, Frank Romano, Finatik & Zac and Jenn Decilveo while working on his debut album, and is set to release his new single 'By My Side' at the end of the month.
Here sitting down for his Sole Session with Creative Recreation, Sanchez says 'it's fascinating when you think about it, like a bunch of sounds together can transform into a feeling..there's nothing like it...at the end of the day music is everything', adding that 'the only thing I would love to do with my music is just give people what I got with music; just an emotion, just get the chills when you listen to a track, that's what I want people to feel when they listen to my music'.
