Watch List: Jorja Smith Is Originality At Its Finest
Jorja Smith might make you say "wow." You'll probably say this because Jorja is a talent that gives new light to a competitive music scene.
Speaking of light... let's talk about her incredible music video for "Where Did I Go?" Smith did it all herself:
"I noticed the lighting was really good on the stairs where there was a skylight, so I balanced the camera on the banister and just started singing. What I like about the video is that any girl could do it, so I feel like it’s more real and relatable for people."
The music is breathtaking though as it comes across as so unbelievably organic and original. It almost feels as if it's just you and and the musician when you listen. Instrumentation sticks with a reverbed piano sound, low end bass, and drums while her vocals come across as haunting in all the best ways. The YouTube comments on the video are actually amazing too as one commentor posted, "girl if I made a video with natural lighting, natural skin and on the stairs of my house I would look like Nosferatu coming down the attic."
Smith's track "Blue Lights" may be her most popular statistically, however, as it gets close to 4 million streams on Spotify. Also on Spotify, you'll find that musician released a debut EP a few months ago! "Project 11," the 5-song preview into her career, is a compilation of smoothly sung ballads that will resonate in your ear drums and it'll feel just right.
