Watch List: JJ Grey & Mofro Will Have You Loving 'Every Minute'
Florida raised JJ Grey, with his band Mofro, have over the course of a decade built a stellar reputation amongst their loyal, ever growing and word-of-mouth fueled fanbase for the heart-on-the-sleeve driven raw energy of their live show and their passionate commitment to honest artistic expression that is firmly rooted in a instinctively authentic combination of southern rock, soul, blues and funk. Growing up inspired by southern rockers, Stax Records and soul legends such as Otis Redding, JJ Grey and his Mofro band made their name on the jam band circuit with their swampy, blues and rock infused blue-eyed soul sensibility and down home lyrical narrative wisdom, soon graduating to more prominent festivals as they built a fanbase off of the back of their rousingly energetic live show, and have gone on to attend festivals such as SXSW, Bonnaroo, All Good and Austin City Limits.
Constantly touring both inside the U.S. and overseas, the band are currently supporting the release of their most recent album, 'Ol' Glory' - which reached #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart - including recently playing live sets for NPR's World Cafe and Sirius FM's The Loft, and also had their song 'The Sun Is Shining Down' featured in the third season finale of the HBO series 'House Of Cards'. About to kick off a slew of European shows before returning to the U.S. for a packed schedule of shows and festivals, here the band stop by WFUV Radio for stirringly soulful live renditions of 'Every Minute' and 'Light A Candle' from the new album as Grey showcases the husky, gritty passion that infuses his richly soulful voice.
