Watch List: Jen Knight - Harvest Moon

When we came across Canadian singer Jen Knight's cover of Radiohead's 'Creep' in late 2012 (see below), we knew we had found a distinctive and outstanding new vocal talent - with a boldly powerful voice that effortlessly combines a smoky, full-throated and stunningly raw, grit-flecked intensity with deep reserves of intuitively felt emotion, she sings compellingly from the soul, investing a captivatingly authentic passion, texture and nuance in every note and phrase whether it be the most soaring of exclamations or the most subtle and sensitive of inflections. Proving that she harbors a considered sensitivity to go along with her throat-shredding power, Knight here gives a gently beautiful rendition of Neil Young's 'Harvest Moon', with the scenic visuals shot in Malibu.
Having performed in and around Ontario in both her own band and in acoustic duos, our initial post about her in 2012 brought her to the attention of interested parties in L.A., and she has been back and forth between Canada and California in the time since to work on original material, saying 'I’m always touched when someone says they feel my music as much as hear it because that’s exactly what I want. I’m working hard, trying to capture the essence of some of life’s most intense emotions and turn them into music that means something to me. Hopefully it’ll mean something to the people who hear it as well.'
