Watch List: Jay Stolar Confesses To Being 'Just An Animal'
2013 was a stellar year for New York based writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jay Stolar - raising $50,000 on Kickstarter; two national tours; a charting single with 'Like You Do' on Billboard and Media Base; releasing his debut album 'More Than We Think'. Kicking 2014 off in a similar positive vein, Stolar played a NFL Super Bowl Blvd party in New York before heading off to perform at a SXSW showcase, moving on afterwards to a house tour with 'The Voice' finalist Catherine Pennell, and now this highly regarded up and coming artist with a stellar reputation on New York's live music scene is preparing for the release of the stirring pop-rock of his new 'struggling-with-my-base-instincts' single, 'Just An Animal', recently stepping into the Flux Studios in New York to give an outstanding live performance of the song.
The former front man for the band Julius C, Stolar served his musical apprenticeship performing in clubs and bars, honing his ability to capture and hold an audience's attention with the passionately expressive soul in his voice. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, equally adept on the guitar, bass or piano, 2012 saw him play both CMJ and SXSW and go on to have a 24-week residency at Rockwood Music Hall, his reputation growing with every passing show amongst fans and critics alike, and he went on to tour with Charlene Kaye, Alexz Johnson, and Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds throughout the United States. Passionate about music and artistic expression, Stolar says 'I love music. But more than that, I love what music does for people. It brings us together, it saves us in times of despair, it makes us cry when we don't know why, and it reminds us how alive life can feel. This is what I do with my life. I create music and perform it with this intention; to move people and give them an experience that I know music can provide'.
