Watch List: Jamar Rogers Gives Voice To Hope And Redemption
The stages may change, but for Jamar Rogers there is one thing that will endure - his voice. From starring on The Voice to his standout performance at this year's CMJ Music Marathon, the emotive power and heartfelt passion of his outstanding vocals have enthralled and moved audiences, with the inherently soulful sensitivity inhabiting his voice acting as a compelling conduit for his message of courage, hope and redemption. Overcoming personal demons to find comfort and hope through music, Rogers caught the attention of CeeLo and the nation on The Voice in 2012, making it through to the semi-finals, and went on to appear on The Today Show, Ellen, Sway In The Morning and in media such as Rolling Stone, Billboard and Huffington Post.
With his powerful vocals and eclectic musical influences - the likes of Otis Redding, Prince and Pink Floyd - inspiring his electro-soul sound, he signed with Tommy Boy Records, later releasing 'Drink Of You' and the 'High' EP. An advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness, Rogers seeks to bring a message of hope to his generation through his music and speaking engagements, saying 'my message is that of love and redemption, that you can put your mind to whatever you want to and I don't care what it is you have been through. If you are willing to live your best life; you really can do that'.
