Watch List: Foxing Will 'Weave' A Web Of Rainy Days
Like a serrated knife, Foxing is shiny with sharp edges of rawness that cut deep. The five piece indie-rock band is from the city of St. Louis in Missouri. Their atmospheric melodies are paired with heartfelt vocals that wash over you and dissolve into your bloodstream. It's intoxicating. Strings and guitars combine with a trumpet and keyboard to form their distinct sound. The lyrics captivate you with ambiguous metaphors that are meant to be interpreted subjectively.
The ensemble began touring several months before releasing their first LP, Albatross in 2013. Throughout the album you'll experience a dynamic sound that your ears will thank you for. The singing style is delicate and can quickly transition into harsh angsty screams. The band expresses their lyrics in a passionate and blunt manner that will make you feel the mood of each song.
Foxing has co-headlined and played alongside with the likes of Hotelier, Mewithoutyou, and Brand New. Their sophomore album, Dealer, was released late October of 2015 with Triple Crown Records. This album is similar to Albatross, except the vocals are more defeated and less angsty. The trumpet, keyboard and strings are more frequent and they produce smooth melodies that are both bright and melancholic. I'm reminded of a rainy day indoors when I'm hit with the first few chords of "Weave". Most of the album has a calming effect, but occasional hurricanes are to be anticipated.
