Watch List: Feel The Authentic Embrace Of Morgan's Raspy, Emotive Pop/Soul Vibe
Every now and again there come those moments of musical discovery that truly disarm; moments that that allay any cynicism and offer a musical embrace that gathers the listener up in the authenticity and honesty of the music's intent. We had just such a moment when happening upon Spanish band, Morgan. Drawing a soulful thread through bluesy rock, lilting Americana and funk-flecked pop/soul, the Madrid based five-piece conjure a sound that is as familiarly reverential of its inspirations as it is completely unaffected in its 'from-the -heart-and-soul' emotion and passion.
Comprising Alejandro Ovejero (bass), Ekain Elorza (drums), Paco López (guitars), David Schulthess (keyboards, piano), the band's crowning glory is found in the alluring magic of singer/pianist Carolina 'Nina' De Juan's raspy, soul-brushed voice: intimate, heartfelt and sensitive in addressing the fears, insecurities and hopes that swirl in the human heart and mind, her voice effortlessly navigates from the tenderest of hushed whispers through to the most gritty and raw of exclamations with the kind of intuitive abandon that is as bewitching as it is wondrous. Currently making a name for themselves on the Spanish music scene following the release of their 'North' album - at the moment only available at their shows - we are more than convinced by what music is available that the thoughtful embrace and soulful groove of their pop-meets-rock-meets-soul vibe is going to take them places.
