Watch List: Brittany Butler Confesses 'No Other Man' Will Do
It is not hard to see why 21-year-old Bostonian Brittany Butler was awarded a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music - her voice, with its sweet, smoothly sophisticated tone and maturely jazzy instincts, provides the perfect conduit for her fluent and sensitive songwriting, here in evidence with 'No Other Man' and its hint of an old soul's wisdom tempering the urgent, tumultuous passion of youth as she sings with a bittersweet sensitivity about the object of her affection.
A self-taught guitarist and pianist, Butler began singing at the age of one, her instinctive attraction for expressing herself musically going on to see her win numerous singing competitions, including being personally selected by Taylor Swift for the final four of Swift's 'Fearless' contest. Auditioning and being accepted for the Berklee City Music program at age 11, she consolidated her musical skills and went on to tour with the Berklee City Music Rock Ensemble. Beginning to post YouTube videos in 2007, her obvious talents have seen her accumulate nearly 50,000 subscribers in the time since, along with recognition from artists like Green Day, The Jonas Brothers and Panic! At The Disco for her covers. Graduating from the Boston Arts Academy in 2011 where she majored in Voice, she was subsequently awarded a full-tuition scholarship to Berklee.
