Watch List: Brandyn Burnette - Say Something (Live)
23-year-old singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Brandyn Burnette has his sights set on an exciting 2014 as he looks forward to releasing his debut album, saying that with his 'tasteful blend of soulful-pop music...I want to bring the honesty back to 21st Century pop', and this desire is fully on display in his recent cover of 'Say Something' by A Great Big World, Burnette's voice an effortless combination of fragile sensitivity, heartfelt vulnerability and passionate insistence as he gives a movingly sincere interpretation of the song's sentiment, saying 'we decided to do a live, one take, completely unaltered performance. I wanted to do the song justice and keep it 100% raw and real'.
Writing his first song at 13, the self-taught son of a musician spent most of his adolescence in St.Louis, Missouri, before moving on to New York to study at NYU after high school. After spending some time at NYU, Burnette was discovered while writing and recording in New York, signing a publishing deal with Sony/ATV in 2010, and then signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2011.
Moving out to L.A., he traveled back and forth between coasts as he spent time developing his craft and identity as an artist, working with various artists, songwriters and producers, including Jon Bellion and the legendary Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, and in October 2012 he played the famous Roxy Theatre on the same bill as emerging stars Tori Kelly and Travis Garland. As he gets set to release his EP and then debut album in 2014, Burnette says '2014 is going to be a great year...It really takes a while for an artist to develop and I’m thankful that the folks at Warner Music Group have put the time and effort into allowing me to develop as a person and an artist. I feel like I’m finally ready to take this career by the horns and take over the universe'.
