Cruel Youth Glides Through A Purple Forest In "Diamond Days"
With vocals that are so haunting yet beautiful, Cruel Youth are a trio making music that makes you feel both captive and free. The Teddy Sinclair-fronted project is trying to gain some buzz by releasing their new music video for the song "Diamond Days."
"Diamond Days" was the first official single from the band released way back on April 15th, 2016. The video shares a world of distorted reality where Sinclair runs around a purple-colored forest, sits through a dark room consisting of only red and blue lighting, and has subtitles speak for her in theatrical black and white scenes.
Musically, the soul elements remind me if you were to combine Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Lana Del Rey all together. "The diamond days are done" seems to be the main point that the lyrical content wants to drive across. The powerful message is one that leaves you awestruck and I think Cruel Youth proves that emotional, dark artistry is often the most touching.
