Thirdstory’s "G Train" w/ Pusha T is Making Us Feel All the Feels
It’s no secret that Thirdstory is taking the music industry by storm. Coming off two US tours (the first opening for GRAMMY nominee and internet sensation Tori Kelly, and the second as the headliner), the release of their debut EP, Searching, as well as the start of their first headlining European tour, the soulful trio has just dropped the music video for a remix of standout track “G Train,” with an appearance from hip hop legend Pusha T.
The video follows all three members of the group as they go through relationships that seem to be starting off well, but then end terribly — a trend that seems to be a little too familiar in today’s society. The song starts off with haunting harmonies and heavy drums (reminiscent of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”), which heavily contrasts the happy, loving scenes depicted in the early parts of the video. The turning point comes when all the instruments drop out except the drums, and they sing the words “I won't wait here for you.” Pusha T comes in with a verse about being played in a relationship while scenes of all three couples arguing flash through. Spoiler alert: All three couples break up, and we're all kinds of sad. (No I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweating…)
Tear-jerking video aside though, the song is incredible: from their tightly packed harmonies, stunning individual voices, and charming smiles, to the heart-wrenching lyrics and (surprisingly) stellar acting, we are all for this re-release of an already chilling song.
Thirdstory’s upcoming LP is set to come out in 2017 on Verve/Universal Music Group. Check out the dates for their European tour here.
