THEA Await The 'Last Serenade'
When it comes to love, often the simplest and most unadorned gestures can be the most meaningful and moving. Embracing just such a notion, Filipino indie-folk band THEA return with the dreamy poignance and moving simplicity of 'Last Serenade'. Catching our attention last year thanks to lead singer Thea Pitiogo's truly distinctive voice, with their new track the Davao City based band again showcase the inviting charm and touching sway-and-swell of their acoustic folk and subtle electronica infused sound.
Front and center, of course, is Pitogo's genuinely arresting voice: ethereally beautiful and soulfully honest, her truly distinctive voice displays the kind of haunting, tremulous sensitivity and emotively raspy fragility that ideally articulates the vulnerability and yearning of 'Last Serenade's intimate confession. Set against a lullaby-soft ukulele and the momentary swell of sting-like synths, Pitogo's voice summons the courage to overcome her own fears and make a heart-felt plea, 'I swore I'll never fall in love again/ But can we be more than friends/ And be mine tonight/'.
