Saint Mesa Prevails With "Jungle"
Triumphant is the adjective that comes to mind when we hear the story of Mission Viejo-native Saint Mesa. Newly signed to Interscope Records, the indie-pop musician is giving us first glimpses of what's to come.
What's also important is where he has been. Saint Mesa, real name Danny McCook, spent a great deal of time in the hospital for unexplained reasons. Just imagine what not knowing for years what's wrong with your body would have on your mental health. The musician made the most out of the situation by writing music in the free time he was unfortunately dealt with.
"Jungle" is the name of the debut track and is characterized by percussion beat patterns and soul-touching vocals. Saint Mesa sings out "I can't keep up with you now, my head's stuck up in the clouds, stuck in the jungle" to give us a sense of his struggle of being totally one with human connection. Whether he likes it or not this is who he is right now and he feels semi-apologetic about it. "Jungle" is a song that resonates on some sort of spiritual plane.
"Jungle" is the first track to be released off of Saint Mesa's debut EP, Jungle.
