R. Kelly previews upcoming album #BlackPanties, out this December
11th? 12th? Which album is R. Kelly on? Does it matter?! The longstanding R&B artist has passed the test of time in an age where artists are barely making it to their second album - much less their first. The multi-platinum singer has seen major success not only as an artist for songs such as "Bump N' Grind" or "I Believe I Can Fly" but also as a writer: "You Are Not Alone" (Michael Jackson), "Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number" (Aaliyah).
Black Panties serves as the follow up to Write Me Back (2012) and R. Kelly spared no production value or vocal ability. R. Kelly arrived looking ready to perform in a gold and black outfit (yes gold rope chain included) giving writers/editors from The Source, Vibe, Billboard, Complex, and others an insight on the making of this album.
"I do my research" says Kelly. He listens to the radio, he discovers new music, he goes out to the various clubs and takes note of what they are playing and he says he even goes back through his extensive catalog; all the way back to 12 Play. But make no mistake - he definitely wants everyone to know that this album is not ONLY about love-making. Sure the new album has songs such as "Leg Shaking" and "Crazy Sex" but he also speaks his mind to negativity he met during this album with a song called "Shutup."
Black Panties was originally scheduled for a November release but will now be available December 10. The hard-hitting album features Ludacris, 2 Chainz, and an exciting feature with fellow R&B artist, Kelly Rowland.
