Overcoats Enchant With 'Smaller Than My Mother'
From enchanting Soundcloud debut to headlining notable New York venues, it is no surprise to us that Overcoats have been making their mark. Offering up a seductive combination of beautiful folk harmonies and subtle electronic influences that meld into an enchanting whole, their 'folktronica' sound had us under its spell at first listen with its dreamy, ethereal charm. Having moved to Dublin, Ireland, to work on their debut album, the New York duo, Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell, here remind once again of their musical magic with the last single, 'Smaller Than My Mother', from their debut EP. Introducing skittery percussion over an insistent, throbbing pulse, the beautifully complementary harmonies of their voices sing with a haunting, pained vulnerability of invisibility and alienation in the face of love's estrangement.
