New York, NY's New Promising Talent
New York City is a city that constantly sees an influx of newer talent because populations come and go and generations change culturally. One thing's consistent: there are always new promising artists coming out of the city.
We highlighted the most influential names to come from NYC, but it's also worthwhile to focus on newer talents. In reality, we could probably write a hundred of these articles.
Maggie Rogers really exploded onto the music scene after a video of Pharrell, at a Masterclass at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, being captivated by Rogers' track "Alaska" was put out to the public. Pharrell had to say:
"I’ve never heard anything that sounds like that. That’s a drug for me."
Heads turned and Rogers began exponentially making a name for her self. "Alaska" racked up a nice 2 million views on YouTube and just last week the musician shared a new video for her track "Dog Years."
