Ne-Yo signs London-bred Sonna Rele to Universal Motown Records
The highly respect songwriter and now A&R Executive, Ne-Yo, has been on the hunt for the next big Motown star to sign. Well it looks like he made his move after seeing the London-bred singer Sonna Rele late last night (which we featured back in August of 2012). Previously signed to Universal Republic at the age of 16, Sonna made it seem though she's prepared for this new opportunity as she continues to get the word out.
An excited Sonna shared, “I’m very humbled that a global superstar like NE-YO supports my music wholeheartedly enough to present me with a recording contract with Universal Motown Records. I’ve been working hard for this moment and I’m truly grateful for this opportunity. It’s going to be an amazing journey ahead.”
On signing Sonna, Ne-Yo stated, “There is a quality about Sonna’s voice that lingers in your ears after she performs a song. Her musicianship, which caught my attention via her 'Music Monday' videos on Facebook, is refreshing and undeniably authentic.”
This new signing marks Ne-Yo’s first international pick as Senior Vice President of Artist & Repertoire at Universal Motown Records. Sonna Rele is due to perform with Ne-Yo at London's The O2 (London) next Friday (03/15/13).
