Music Video: Whitney McClain - Bombs Away
Music runs in the blood for Whitney McClain. Born into a musical family - her uncle, Marlon McClain is the former leader and guitarist for the 80’s funk/rock/R&B/jazz band Pleasure - McClain found an early enjoyment in performing and singing, saying 'I have such fond memories of singing and putting on little shows for my family when I was a kid', and, when faced with serious health problems growing up, she drew strength and comfort from music, 'even during some very difficult times, it was music that soothed my soul and helped me to heal'.
With her natural affinity for music, and encouraged by her uncle, McClain has in recent times been fulfilling the legacy of her musical heritage. Pursuing her musical dreams in collaboration with producer Mauli B, McClain recently released the catchy, retro/soul infused 'the-course-of-true-love-is-never-smooth' anthem 'Bombs Away', the sweetly subtle soul of her vocal tone articulating the challenges that the 21-year-old McClain and her friends face in finding love - 'so many of my friends are falling in love, falling out of love and trying to figure out how to pick the right guy...when I heard this song it sounded like some of the late night talks I have with my girlfriends and I knew it was for me'.
With the encouragement of producer Mauli B, McClain is determined to follow up her debut and work hard at her musical dreams, saying 'I know that being an artist requires a lot of hard work, time and patience...but I am ready...I want to share my story and my music in the hope that it will reach out and touch people and inspire them to overcome the hard times that can come up in life...I am proof that dreams do come true and I know that I will continue to grow as a person and an artist as I take this first musical step'.
