Music Video: The Walkervilles - Sweet To Me Sexy
Born out of the demise of the Canadian folk rock/band Michou, and newly constituted as The Walkervilles, Pat Robitaille, Michael Hargreaves and Stefan Cvetkovic set about crafting their own distinctive brand of rock'n'soul, describing their newly realized sound as being 'heavily influenced by Motown and Detroit rock and roll; we grew up in Windsor, which is just across the border from Detroit, so, you know, the influence runs deep, but it is definitely something that is...a little more our own sound, not just the Motown sound, but it's kind of in that vibe, you know; it's feel good, it's fun', here in evidence with 'Sweet To Me Sexy'.
Influenced by the likes of Sam Cooke, Sly Stone, Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, and Jimi Hendrix, their seamless blending of the ethos of classic rock, soul and R&B with an ear-catchingly contemporary sensibility soon saw their fan base spread in Canada through live shows and the release of 'Meet The Walkervilles: Live At McKenzie Hall'. By late 2013 they where touring across Canada with Tedeschi Trucks Band, and 2014 saw the band cross the southern border to play their first U.S. show at Highline Ballroom, returning again later in the year to NYC to play Rockwood Music Hall. Having recently celebrated with a hometown release party in Windsor, Ontario for their new album, 'Rebirth Of The Cool', The Walkervilles are currently in the middle of a Canadian Tour.
