Music Video: Monophonics - Promises
Evolving from their origins as a instrumental ensemble into a fully fleshed out band with the addition of vocalist Kelly Finnigan, San Francisco psychedelic soul band the Monophonics have in both incarnations been at the vanguard of keeping alive the legacy of their hometown's funk and psychedelic soul traditions. Led by Finnigan's gritty vocals and lush, swirling organ, the band generate a blisteringly raw soul, funk and rock-infused aural amalgam that is drenched with tight, funky drums and thick, churning basslines that act as the soulfully authentic foundation for shimmering, fuzzy guitars and the commanding, punchy horn section.
Showcased here in conjunction with the psychedelically inspired visuals for their new track 'Promises', taken from their upcoming 'Sound Of Sinning' album, their hard-charging soul-funk sound has established themselves as Bay Area favorites, and the Monophonics have also gone on to build a loyal following both across the U.S. and around the world. Having played hundreds of shows both nationwide and overseas - becoming particular favorites in Greece with their cover of 'Bang Bang' - they have shared stages at festivals with the likes of Al Green, Quincy Jones and Crosby Stills & Nash, and the band spent last year touring and collaborating with French soul-revival star Ben l'Oncle Soul, including recording and producing with l'Oncle Soul on his recent 'A Coup De Rêves' album.
