Music Video: Mad Satta - Reach Out
As they continue their emergence as one of the most promising bands to appear on the New York neo-soul scene, and in anticipation of the upcoming release of their 'Comfort' album, produced by Grammy-winner Prince Charles Alexander (Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige, Destiny's Child), Mad Satta further advance their desire to bring a 'forward-thinking new school soul back into the airwaves' with the video for 'Reach Out'. Shot on the streets of Brooklyn and Queens, 'Reach Out' showcases the band's sophisticated musicality and smoothly soulful polish that singer Joanna Teters describes as 'kind of the new school neo-soul...but with a lot of jazz; a little bit of rock; a little bit of reggae', with the gentle grit and sultry hues of Teter's warmly inviting vocals infused with a tender vulnerability as she asks a distant lover to 'reach out'.
Having just been selected for a ZOO LABS residency this summer in Oakland, California, where the band will be recording their second album and looking to further develop their business strategy, Teters explains 'we do have a lot of momentum at the moment, and that's the really nice thing, everyone is kind of feeding off that fire right now and every time that we meet up we have new things to talk about, new developments. As long as we keep assessing the needs of the band and the needs of the audience, there is no stopping us'.
