Music Video: Ephemerals - Things (Part 1)
A 'soul family' of talented musicians out of Soho, London, the Ephemerals are in the business of making music that is bound to prove the antithesis of their moniker in terms of its enduring appeal, their collective musical sensibility grounded as it is in the timeless instincts of classic r'n'b, soul, jazz and funk. Adding their own fresh, contemporary point of view to this legacy, the rousing horns, absorbing grooves, thoughtful lyrics and soulfully polished production of their original music is born out of the band member's experience in other notable U.K. based soul and funk inspired outfits, their recently released feet-on-the-pavement video for 'Things' (Part 1) showcasing their socially conscious mindset as the smoothly graveled maturity of Franglo-American singer Wolfgang Valbrun's voice asks of raising the next generation 'how we gonna teach them, when nobody's even preaching about right and wrong'.
This stellar collective of musicians was brought together by writer/producer Hillman Mondegreen, a founding member of Hannah Willams and The Tastemakers, who was looking to find a voice to bring to life an envisioned soul album that he was working on having moved on to his own projects. Impressed when spotting Valbrun's vocal talents on an occasion when Valbrun's band Marvellous was set to support HWTT, Mondegreen quickly drafted in some of the U.K. soul scenes most talented musicians from bands such as Keke Mokoro, Gene Dudley Group, Dakhla and Kalakuta Millionaires to support the singer, and the newly minted group was soon in the studio recording in North London.
With the subsequent album 'Nothin Is Easy' having been picked up by Jalapeno Records for a September 1st release , and with a 45 for 'Call It What You Want' already out on Mocambo Records, you can catch a taste of what to expect from the Ephemeral's 'Nothin Is Easy' below -
