Music Video: Cooper Phillip - Silence
Fans of music that we are here at Next2Shine, one thing in particular that we appreciate is coming across a new singer who possesses an emotive and articulate voice that can hold the listener's attention in its own right. Schooled in a music academy where she studied classical piano and voice, and inspired by vocal legends Ella Fitzgerald and Mariah Carey, Russian-born Cooper Phillip is just such a singer, showcasing the type of vocal tonal integrity and emotionally expressive sensitivity that her heroes inspired her to emulate with the new video for her song 'Silence'.
Born in Russia, Cooper was raised by her grandmother and aunt as her violinist mother toured with various symphonies, turning to music - and Ella Fitzgerald in particular - for comfort, obsessively studying the legend's vocal stylings. Winning a singing competition at eleven years old inspired her to push herself as a singer, and after moving to live full-time with her mother at twelve, she subsequently enrolled in a music academy to study classical piano and theory, harp, ballet and voice. Introduced to, and inspired by, the amazing vocals of superstar Mariah Carey - 'I would just listen to her for hours upon hours'- Cooper set her sights on a music career, and at seventeen moved to New York to live the life of a struggling artist. A chance opportunity to sing in Los Angeles saw her meet producer Yoni Blondy, who introduced her to Sundafu Kawah of Imaginary Ghost Management, with Cooper then setting to work on her debut 'Walk A Mile'.
