Against a backdrop of subdued, haunting harmonies by the Bangin' Rackettes, Clairy Browne's mournfully smoky vocals sing a lament for those who succumb to the perils of the limelight, Clairy explaining that 'the song was written as a dirge, the instrumentation providing the soundtrack to a sort of epic funeral march and the words being the eulogy to artists loved to death, lost or damaged by the bright light of fame, all carried along by the Rackettes ghostly hums'.
We featured Australian band Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes earlier in the year, just prior to their appearance at SXSW, and since then they haven taken their blend of soul, r&b, rock 'n' roll and 60's girl-group harmonies on a headlining tour of the US and appeared on Last Call with Carson Daly, as well being interviewed by NPR, and recently released their 'Baby Caught The Bus' album, which includes the song 'Love Letter' that featured in a Heineken advertisement and was the #1 Most Added at Triple A Radio upon release.
