Music Video - Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes - Love Letter
Australia's Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes are an 'imaginative concoction of soul, surf and rhythm n' blues', with their aim being to 'bring back the sounds of hard hitting Northern Soul, jump blues, doo-wop, ska and gospel'. Led by the soulful vocals of singer Clairy Browne, who is backed by the harmonizing girl group The Bangin' Rackettes, the band formed in 2009 and soon began winning fans in their native Australia with their Etta James, Tina Turner, The Shirelles and Sister Rosetta Tharpe influenced sound. The band write all their music, saying 'we took our cue from music we like...but we don't think of ourselves as an old-school or old style band...we are writing our songs, and, you know, we got our sound..we want to create something real', with Clairy Browne saying 'I had a vision, I guess, to recreate in a live music sense that whole '60's hysteria, television kind of vibe.' The band have taken their sound on tours to Japan, Europe and America, and in early 2011 they released their debut EP, followed later in the year by their Steve Schram (Public Enemy, Little Red) produced debut album 'Baby Caught the Bus' which went on to win the ABC Radio National 'Album Of The Year', with the single 'Love Letter' being featured in a Heineken advertisement. Having signed with Vanguard Records, the band are set to perform at SXSW, and here are their songs 'Love Letter' and 'Baby Caught the Bus'.
