Music Video: Audra Mae - Some Little Angel
When an artist can transfix the listener with nothing more than a spare, bluesy guitar and their pure, unadulterated vocal, you know you are dealing with a rare talent indeed - packing the kind of vocal expressiveness that can only come from the most intuitive of musical instincts, the raspy, smoke hued voice of Oklahoma native Audra Mae is shot through with raw, unfiltered emotion, the subtle textures and heartfelt inflections in her voice delicately controlled as she chides a certain someone for their duplicity in the game of love with her song 'Some Little Angel'.
The great-grandniece of Judy Garland - Mae's great-grandmother was in the Gumm Sisters with Garland - Mae left Oklahoma for Los Angeles in 2004 to follow her musical dreams. Applying her talents to songwriting, she signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell and received multiple placements on T.V shows such as Sons Of Anarchy and The Good Wife; she also wrote the lyrics for 'Who I Was Born To Be' that featured on Susan Boyle's multi-platinum 2009 album 'I Dreamed A Dream'. As well as recently writing 'Somebody Loves Somebody' for Celine Dion, and featuring as a vocalist on songs by Flo Rida ('How I Feel') and on several songs on Avicii's recent album (including 'Addicted To You' and 'Long Road To Hell'), Mae has also in the last several years released her own original material through Los Angeles indie label SideOneDummy Records, with 2009's 'Haunt' and 2010's 'The Happiest Lamb' being followed in 2012 by her album 'Audra Mae And The Almighty Sound'.
