Music Video: Alex Hepburn - Pain Is
The remarkable voice of Alex Hepburn is raw, searing and heartfelt, with a straight from the gut grittiness, her song with Linda Perry 'Pain Is' laying bare her fears and vulnerabilities with an intimate confession as she gives an honest accounting of her sense of alienation and abandonment in the face of the harsh realities of life, with Hepburn saying 'it's based on my life and everything that pain means to me and that I have felt in the past, very simple honest lyric'.
Born in London to Scottish parents, Hepburn began singing at local music venues at age 16, with her earliest influences including Etta James, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Faces and Nina Simone, saying 'I used to listen to a lot of music from the 60's and 70's...so I've got a weakness for what I call, like, real music', describing her own music as 'soul, blues with a dash of rock'. She started to post songs, later adding videos, on Myspace, creating a buzz with her attention grabbing vocals that eventually saw the right people take notice and she was signed to Warner Music France and the famous CAA touring agency. With her profile growing in Europe, she toured with Bruno Mars in 2011 and released her debut EP mid way through 2012, following that up with her album release for 'Together Alone' in Europe in early 2013, and has now set her sights on touring the UK and the US in the future.
