Lots of Love for Ryn Weaver's "OctaHate
On a slushy New York evening, an airport terminal of lucky New Yorkers got to experience Ryn Weaver perform at JetBlue's "Live from T5" series. The series has featured many talented artists in the past few years such as Aloe Blacc, Emeli Sandé, Lady Antebellum, and this girl named Taylor Swift, have you heard of her? The crowd was comprised of both special radio contest winners, and travelers waiting for the departures. The performance was quite a pleasant surprise to many jetsetters whose flights were delayed or canceled due to the weather. The stage was located right in the middle of the Terminal 5 Marketplace, making it impossible for passersby to not stop for a minute or two and listen to this dynamo's incredibly powerful voice. A few people could be overheard asking members of the crowd who she was, commenting on how impressed they were.
Ryn Weaver was quite delightful on stage, she was comfortable joking around about nobody knowing any of the songs from her Promises EP,which was clearly not the case, as her fans are incredibly dedicated. Many of the contest winners knew all of the words to her songs, and sang along fervently. Additionally, JetBlue has been playing her video for "OctaHate" on their flights, so she has definitely been getting a reasonable amount of exposure. Between playing many songs from her forthcoming album, she also did a remarkable cover of Susanne Sundfør's "White Foxes". And in the middle of her set, she asked for a moment of silence so that everyone could pay a small tribute to SkyMall (RIP).
After the show was over, Weaver took the time to talk to every one of the contest winners, signing anything and everything, and teaching them all how to take the perfect selfie. It's apparent that she truly cares about her fans, and they all adore her right back. This was a very special experience for her fans, who might have a hard time finding another intimate gathering like this in the future after she becomes a huge pop star.
