Jessie Reyez's Hellish "Shutter Island" Video
Jessie Reyez will always be somebody that's unapologetically herself. Her hold-nothing-back lyrics surely give her a sense of character that tends to stray from the path and stand out from the pack. The singer-songwriter has been making some heads spin with her successful hit "Figures," but "Shutter Island" might make even more spin with lines like "my straight jacket's custom-made" as an anthem.
The music video will definitely shock some viewers. For a majority of the audio-visual medium we watch the musician severely struggle while being trapped in a glass box. Occasionally a person comes right up the glass without doing a thing to help and it seems straight out of a dark horror film -- which makes it appropriately titled "Shutter Island."
It the bridge Reyez gains her confidence back and let's the listener know she's not going to falter. "For a second I forgot I was a bad b****," the singer sternly points out. A true artist is one that is unpredictable.
