Ivy Levan Defiantly Shoots For The Stars With '27 Club'
Arkansas-born, L.A.-based singer/songwriter Ivy Levan burst onto the music scene in 2013 with her richly commanding vocals and the stompin' swagger of her bluesy, punk-rock and Motown inspired 'swamp hop' sound, quickly becoming a favorite amongst tastemakers the likes of Billboard, Allure, MTV, Yahoo and Perez Hilton - she hit the top of Billboard's 'Next Big Sound'; won MTVU's The Freshman twice; was hailed as Yahoo! Music’s next 'It Girl' - as she racked up over four million views on YouTube and VEVO with tracks like 'Money' and 'I Don't Wanna Wake Up'.
Recently contributing to the 20th Century Fox summer comedy blockbuster soundtrack for Melissa McCarthy's 'Spy' with 'Who Can You Trust', and following her single 'Biscuit' - now with over over one million views on YouTube and VEVO- Levan has announced the August 7th release date for her debut album, 'No Good' (and tour dates, see below) through Cherrytree/Interscope Records in conjunction with the release of album teaser '27 Club' with super-producer Diplo. Referencing the age at which a number of iconic musicians have passed away - Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison - '27 Club' sees Levan's boldly distinctive voice singing with a poignant, fatalistic defiance as she adamantly declares her 'shoot-for-the-stars' mentality, 'I'd rather burn out than spend my life waiting/ I wanna go down, down in history', over the grandly retro-hued, brass and doo-wop-inspired Diplo beat.
