Hear Jordan Rakei's Groove Infused "Blame It On The Youth"
Jordan Rakei has, yet again, conjured up a recipe for the epitome of groove. Mixing together a warm, walking bass line, tasty brass instrumentation, atmospheric keys & synths and a soulful vocal performance, he presents "Blame It On The Youth." Don't get too caught up in the instrumentation -- Jordan's lyrics are always touching on something relevant and consciously thought out. Hear those recognizable guitar tones? We were delighted to see Street Rat hopped on the track, adding an essential element to this delicious, funky cocktail. "Blame It On The Youth" previews his upcoming album, Cloak, and follows up his first single release, "Talk To Me."
The influence is clear, channeling a D'Angelo-esque vibe with a beat that reminds us of Dilla. Nonetheless, Jordan's craft is one of his own, taking these influences and using them as leverage to skyrocket his clever musicianship and artistry.
As if we're not already super amped for his album to drop soon (June 3 to be exact,) this simply put us on the edge of our seats. Listen and love above!
