Music Video: Gotye ft Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know
Belgian-born but now calling Australia home, Gotye (pronounced “gore-ti-yeah”) already had a fan base built from his two solo albums and as one third of the Melbourne outfit The Basics. The success and positive reviews of his 2010 single, “Eyes Wide Open,” unlocked many doors of opportunity which included a spot on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2010, a nomination for the 2011 APRA Music Awards in the Song of the Year category and saw him sharing the stage with other successful Australian artists Birds of Tokyo, Art Vs Science and Washington in the Groovin’ the Moo Music Festival in Australia. Goyte has put in overtime and worked very hard on his third studio album, Making Mirrors, which is due to be released August 19. The second single from the album is titled “Somebody That I Used To Know,” which features guest vocals from fellow Australian Kimbra. The video for the tune is another showcase of Goyte’s creativity. Directed and produced by Natasha Pincus (Peter Murray, Sarah Blasko), the four-minute visual feels more like a piece of art than a video. The clip has already received over 1.5 million views on YouTube and is certified Gold in Australia.
