Why Folded Like Fabric Are Your New Favorite Duo -- Feel Lavish in "Luxuries" EP
Folded Like Fabric have been close on our radar for quite some time, with their breakout release of 2015 I Tried EP. We caught wind of this incredibly signature, forward-thinking sound and were immediately hooked. The music's effortless honesty and innovative approach make for an unbelievably noteworthy duo, compromised of Hastings, UK-based Jay Mooncie and Connor Sims.
In a four-track EP, Folded Like Fabric take you through a whole array of sounds, creating tracks that are certainly different but piece together like a perfectly placed puzzle. Art is supposed to be signature, right? In any form of creativity, the outcome should define who the artist is and speak for itself. FLF have mastered this concept, producing a sound that could be instantly recognized without knowing it's their music.
"Luxuries" opens the EP (and is arguably the best track on the project), followed by "Cut From The Ocean" the first single to be revealed from Luxuries EP. This single, appropriately chosen, is a upbeat tune with awesome electro-indie production and buttery vocals on top. A truly one-of-a-kind sound, the remaining two songs carry on this theme. It's the beautiful execution of genre-bending, adding oscillating electronic elements with tasty guitar melodies and dreamy vocals and lyrics.
"Falling and You Caught Me" and "Give Me Something" add an extra layer of instrumentation, with the last track even incorporating string elements and a super groovy bass. Collecting these four tracks together and stepping back, we give this project a solid A+. The two are undoubtedly prosperous in their attempt at creating a captivating piece of work, and the simple handful of music is enough to keep us utterly satisfied.
