JMSN is an artist that isn't afraid to be honest and say exactly what's on his mind.

It Is. will be released everywhere May 6th through White Room Records. The album starts out with a title track that seemingly could be a James Bond movie soundtrack. JMSN sings passionately about being in love with someone and dedicating his time and effort to them all while orchestral instruments set the mood even further behind. From there the album goes into the track "Power" which features the vocal line "you got the power" and aims to inspire listeners to do something with their lives. This is the first song of many that heavily features the bass guitar as a primary instrument driving the groove. On top of that there is clapping that will make you want to snap along with your fingers and maybe even do a little dance.

On March 1st, JMSN posted the first glimpse of the latest music through the form of "Cruel Intentions." Here, the R&B singer expresses feeling of regret for his past mistakes and begs his lover for attention and forgiveness. We love the structure of this track because the choruses seems to be more tame than the verses and pre-choruses. It's really interesting to do something out of the box like this. The song's cherry on top is the outro where "cruel intentions" get soulfully sung over and over until the song fades out.

The song "Good Ol' Case of the Blues" begins with some spoken word calling out some former friends that had the sole purpose to use somebody. JMSN basically insists that judgment/karma will come for them one day and they'll regret what they've done. Overall, this is almost a hip hop call out attitude in a jazzy, R&B song and it totally works.

Some other notable tracks for us are "Hypnotized" and "Be a Man". "Hypnotized" begins super ambient but then finds a reggae-type groove with guitars, synths, percussion, and brass instruments. For us, this one had a totally different vibe than the rest of the album and we give kudos to JMSN for doing something different. The part one and two of "Be a Man" may be the most personal for the singer. He analyzes himself as a person, judges his own choices he has made and relates it all back to his character. "Be a Man, Pt. 2" has hip hop influence for sure in it through the emotional and fast lyrical expression.

JMSN-It-Is.-2016-2480x2480

The album closes with "Possessed" and we think it was a good choice to close it on this note. The final song has a calming feeling of reflection and the orchestral instruments are back once again. "These demons wont let me be / Guess I'm possessed" sings JMSN but he makes a mental note that he can't dwell on the past too much because it will hold you back from the future. It Is. is personal, but we think a lot of people will connection to it in some shape or form.

Enjoy the album on iTunes HERE.

New York DJ/Producer Prince Fox is back with a catchy new song called "Fragile." To my excitement this single features vocals from the extremely talented actress and singer, Hailee Steinfeld. The line "I'm just as fragile as you" will get stuck in your head for days (this is for certain.)

Underneath the lyrics, Prince Fox has constructed a beautiful soundtrack of somber piano, synths, and beats that totally fit with Steinfeld's range. Be prepared to hear this jam at your favorite nightlife spot.

The video for the song showcases a bunch of random objects being destroyed. Under odd circumstances, we're mesmerized... Enjoy.

We made sure you knew of Leisure a few months back, as their captivating and innovative musicianship stole our hearts (and we're hoping yours too.)

Today, they're back with a stellar new track. And, casually, it features none other than GoldLink. We couldn't have picked a better collaboration.

RELATED: Having an Ear Crush on LEISURE

The Australian-based collective has previewed the release on Instagram this week, posting behind the scenes imagery and speaking about the record --

"We were long time fans of @goldlink and it turned out the feeling was reciprocated. On his first ever visit to New Zealand, and the day before we both played @lanewayfestnz we got into the studio and vibed together to create something special. We can't wait for you to hear it. This Thursday we release 'LEISURE - Nobody ft. GoldLink'"

We have a new song dropping on Thursday, for the lovers.

A video posted by LEISURE (@theleisurecollective) on

Today is the day! After high anticipation, "Nobody" has been revealed and it's just as dreamy as we anticipated. Sultry, romantic vibes pan across a synth-drenched sound palette as Leisure sings with silky melodies. It truly is "a song for for lovers," as the band put it. GoldLink adds the perfect touch to this track, filling in R&B flavors on top of tasty guitar tones. It's a cocktail that leaves us awestruck. Check it out below.

We had the pleasure to sit down with these unstoppable and talented women who go by the name SHIMASHIMA. The collective is made up of three soulful spirits; Lea Serres, Abri and Lexi Todd. The group has had an eventful year so far, and it's not even June. This past year the group released all three teasers and songs for their individual singles, some of which were featured on EARMILK; all songs were produced by Lea Serres. There is no doubt that their dedicated work ethic has paid off. They have locked down radio interviews, multiple website features, and just this past weekend they had their first EP release - which was a gigantic success. Get to know more about these girls before they blow-up!

What color do you feel like today?

Abri: I'm normally a bright color, but because of the weather I'm more of a burgundy today.

Lexi: I feel gold. I usually feel gold or red, very fiery colors.

Lea: Feeling blue, pretty much all the time.

What's the best thing that's happened this week or last week?

Lea: Definitely the showcase.

Abri: Yeah, everything was leading up to that point.

Lexi: The weeks leading up to it were completely consumed by planning the showcase. We had to make sure every little detail was perfect, and people noticed!

Lea: It came together the way we wanted it to.

Abri: Yeah, we had wrist bands, merchandise, projections with our teasers going and lights. We wanted to make it an experience.

How did you come up with the name SHIMASHIMA?

Abri: Shima comes up in a lot of different languages but we like the femininity of it. And, it's catchy! It means island in Japanese, stripes sometimes, it means mother and love. It's all encompassing and we like how that works for us.

Congrats on your EP release! How was the collaborative process for all of you?

Lea: It kind of happened by accident. When we started working together we didn't know what we were going to be, what we were going to release, or what we would be doing with the music. We just got together and started writing and after a while we noticed our songs were all story-based. Our songs are based on something that happened to us. We thought to release them as individual artists while still maintaining the collective package.

Lexi: Yeah, and as far as the EP's go, our starting point is what story we're going to tell. We wrote so many songs that had an individual person that was important to each of us. It starts at the beginning of a relationship and end at a different point.

So it's like a journey.

Abri:  Yeah, each EP is like a little journey through our lives.

Besides music, what else inspires you?

Lexi: I'm inspired by Philosophy, political theory, and independence as a woman. Musically, I'm influenced by Hiatus Kaiyote, Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse.

Abri: I was raised on Michael Jackson and Chaka Khan so definitely a throwback R&B, Pop sound. Also, the glitz and glamour of Motown dream girls. I'm really inspired by the modern-diva. And anything super sappy!

Lea: I draw my inspiration from new developments in technology like virtual reality. There is also one visual artist I'm pretty inspired by, he goes by XHXIX. As far as music goes, I love James Blake, Stevie Wonder and Bruno Mars.

Is there a place you travelled to that was particularly inspiring?

Abri: London! My entire EP was inspired by events in London, it was that pivotal for me. Traveling the world opened up my eyes and really helped bring this EP together.

Lea: I'm pretty inspired by Japan. All of the visual artists, graphic designers and illustrators I'm inspired by are from there.

Lexi: I'm more inspired by New York, especially Brooklyn. I draw from the different cultures around the area and it has helped shape my writing style.

Screen Shot 2016-05-02 at 2.29.35 PM

Who were you in high school? Like a prep, jock, etc.

Lexi: I wasn't a label, really. I did everything at once and never felt like I had a certain group. I was able to bounce around seamlessly and I still do that. I have Law School, music, and I nanny. I feel like that hasn't changed for me.

Abri: I didn't really have a clique but I had a lot of different friends from different circles. I did theater, started my own girl group and was kind of the life of the party. I felt like I had to overcompensate but once I was in college I really found myself. Going to NYU, in the Clive Davis department, I was in a sea of incredibly talented people and wasn't the odd man out anymore.

Lea: I was a total nerd, dork, geek! I was in the sci-fi club and I sang Opera. That hasn't changed but how it's received has. Now, I'm surrounded by a bunch of dorks and we're all comfortable with it.

Is there anything you're a snob or nerd about?

Lexi: Designer jeans! I will only wear designer jeans.

Abri: Wise puff cheese doodles are the only cheese doodles as far as I'm concerned!

Lea: I'm a snob about baking, I like to bake a lot, so I hate when people take a recipe and mess with it. Like all of those Tasty videos on FaceBook, they infuriate me.

So being "minorities" in the industry, how do you handle push-back or negativity?

Lexi: Right now the response has been positive but in the future we see that there will be push-back. We're just going to face them and brace them.

Abri: It's going to be hard but we're passionate about it and we have each other which is a great support system.

Lea: The best way to combat the doubts some people might have is to produce the best content that we possibly can.

With her dexterous fret-board skills and soulful vocal rasp, Detroit native Mayaeni possesses a talent of genuinely arresting power. Able to invest her emotionally eloquent lyricism with viscerally potent sensuality and vulnerability courtesy of the intimacy, nuance and poise of her maturely expressive delivery, she effortlessly encompasses the constituent elements of her rock/pop/soul vibe. A confidently delivered blend of ear-catching melodies, heart-felt emotion and fluent guitar, her sensibility comes effortlessly infused with the sing-along charm of well-polished pop, the meaningful weight of soul, and the self-possessed swagger of rock.

Schooled musically through an eclectic range of influences courtesy of time spent with her musician father in the studio, Mayaeni began fashioning her self-described 'Detroit bred rock & soul' sound from a young age. After spending time in the U.K. post high school, she returned to the U.S., where she worked on her own music while playing open mics and recording demos for other artists. Having released both an EP and album by 2007, she followed up with her 'Cold Love' EP in 2011, and a year later went on to have a huge hit in collaboration with DJ Sander Van Doorn, 'Nothing Inside'. Signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation, she released the 'Black Jeans' single in 2014, and now follows up her recent 'Basement Kid Mixtape' with the sultry yearning and sensuous invitation of her new track, 'Million n'1'.
