EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Artistry at it's Best! - Timothy Bloom
The stunning video for "Till The End of Time" has captured thousands of views on Youtube already. From the comments left by viewers, it has been called epic, breathless, re-awakening, iconic, raw, and beautiful. It seems as if you've been able to capture the emotions of music lovers and translate that into real music.
When did you start playing music? Describe some of the experiences that you believe have propelled you to this state of artistry.
I started my musical career at the age of 8. Because my dad was a pastor, I grew up in church which has allowed me to play the drums into the piano which eventually propelled me to paint the picture of what type of artist I wanted to become musically. Growing up my dad was in the military. Living in different places and being exposed to different cultures allowed me to broaden my mind on different levels of music. My father used to listen to a lot of country gospel music. The different genres that I heard over time allowed me to infuse the sounds of country, gospel, folk, R&B, and alternative music into the music I'm create today.
There was a point in your life where you "almost lost your life"...explain that epiphany and how it relates to your music.
There was a point in my life that I actually had a minor heart attack, due to the lack of bodily care. It was a scary moment! This personal experienced allowed me to view my life in a different aspect. It's like a flashing of light -- an epiphany. Through my music I've learned that you should live your life at the potential that you want it to be. It allowed me to appreciate the moments in life. You can hear it in my music. I live my life as it's my last day on Earth.
What do you believe is missing from music today?
What I feel is missing from music today is the art of Love. I think people take music as a job. For me I take it as a life experience.
In your words, what does music mean to you?
Music means to me.. It transfers from a higher spectrum of the universe and it comes down. I call music God. Music is my religion. Music is the voice of God. That's what I see it as. It's as if God is speaking to me.
With your music, what do you want to project out into the world?
With my music I want people to be able to hear through the tunnels that come from a different place. When I write music it comes from a place that I don't know where it's coming from. Sometimes I surprise myself... like "Wow did that just happen?". I just want people to relate to it. I want them to feel as though there's something more than music. A place of hope. It's ironic that my last name is "Bloom". As plants grow, there's a seed that planted. You just want life to grow from that seed and sprout out. I just hope that people who relate to my music, can understand that there's life, there's abundance.
What are you working on right now?
There's an EP we just released called "The Budding Rose". In that placement we got four tracks from the album and performed them live. Another exciting project we have going is that my single "Till' The End of Time" also got picked as an iTunes spotlight single of the week! That was really cool! *whispers* Thank you iTunes!
