EVENT RECAP: New Music Seminar NYC 2010
The jam-packed sold out event was easily described as a success! The three-day event featured "key artists and industry leaders engaged in intensive and powerful dialogue about the future of the music industry, the new solutions, technologies and investments necessary to" take it to the next level of entertainment and fan engagement.
The event was littered with speakers that included, but not confined to, Courtney Holt (President/MySpace Music), Mike Doernberg (CEO/ReverbNation), Eric Garland (CEO/Big Champagne), Joe Kennedy (CEO/Pandora), David Goodman (President/CBS Interactive), Alex Cameron (SVP Marketing/Emmis Communications), and Martin Atkins (Author/Tour: Smart). If that wan't enough the corporate sponsors also showed up with representatives to answer questions. They included SESAC, The Grammy Association, OurStage, ReverbNation, JakPrints, GrooveShark, TuneCore, NextBigSound, and Nimbit. Power players from all areas of the music industry scoured the floor looking to network, catch-up, and to talk about business proposals, partnerships, expert tips, and most of all -- innovative ideas waiting to be discovered.
Speakers mainly focused on the aspect of emerging technologies. Specifically, on how to capitalize on the interaction between the artist and the fan. A large majority also discussed the personal techniques they used on achieving "fan-relationship-management" (FRM). These relationships where forged and nurtured by social media, mobile marketing, the "discovery" process, word of mouth, and search-engine-optimization (SEO) practices. This is one event you don't want to miss out on! Make sure to pre-register for next years event.
