Elle Varner Shines At SOBs
The MBK Entertainment/RCA Records recording artist Elle Varner, that we featured last year on our #Discovery Mixtape, made her mark on the packed house at SOBs Monday night (April 30). Her outgoing personality shone through her performance and Elle gave the crowd her animated stage presence as she belted out songs from her acclaimed mixtape "Conversational Lush". Fans sang along with Elle and her dapper background vocalists to "EV", "WTF", "So Fly" and "Only Wanna Give It To You". Her unique set consisted of a beat box interlude and the crowd reveled in the stylings of Anointed S as he showed off, mimicking the beats to "I Just Wanna Love You (Give It To Me)" by Jay-Z and "Real Love" by Mary J. Bilge, which prompted Elle and the audience to sing along.
With friends, family and fans welcoming her openly to one of the biggest showcases she's performed in thus far, Elle shared a brief memory: "Two years ago when J. Cole had his sold-out show [at SOBs] with the line down the block [...] I said, 'I wish that was me, I wish that was me' and now it's me. Thank you so much!"
Elle pleased the anxious crowd with her current single, "Refill", which got an extended mix and she cleverly wove in the Frank Ocean-penned "Thinking About You" as her closing number. At the request of her fans, Miss Varner performed an encore in the form of a new song from her debut album which she'd written with her father - who played the keyboard during the last song. Elle's energy was electrifying and a great time was had by everyone in attendance.
