When you dive into the musical current that flows from the creative wellspring of Scottish band The River 68's, you may find yourself swept away in any number of ways. From wanting to throw your hands up in joyous exclamation to being overtaken with the urge to rattle your bones, or maybe simply finding yourself revelling in the soul-salving euphoria that so instinctively inhabits their sound, what is guaranteed is that you will feel uplifted.
Offering up a cathartic, invigorating blend of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and The Black Crowes inspired Americana, blues, rock'n'roll and soul, their collective instinct for enthusiastically rousing the spirit comes with an irresistible helping of good old-fashioned heart and soul. Centered around brothers Craig and Christian McCabe, the band - including Gerry Loughrey, Chris Russell and Allan James - invest their sound with driving percussion, the fuzzy jangle of southern-fried riffs, gospel-hued harmonies and harmonica and organ accents in pursuit of a groovy, feel-good celebration of classic rock'n'soul.
Powered by the gritty, expressive soul and passionate emotion of Craig McCabe's perfectly placed rock frontman vocal, the band have been honing their sound over the last few years on the both the Glaswegian and wider U.K. music scene - having received airplay from BBC Radio 1 Scotland and toured with the likes of The Darkness and The Temperance Movement, the band are currently opening for Billboard #1 U.S. stars Lake Street Dive on their European tour. Here showcasing their sound with 'Sonny and The Second Hand Store' and 'Rush' from their just released 'Piece' EP, The River 68's give you all the reasons you need to seat yourself in the front pew of their house of rock'n'soul worship and shout their praises.
