The Most Distinguished At Essence Festival 2015
Now Playing Superlounge
The Now Playing Superlounge was a mix of some of the most intriguing entertainers. From soulful singer Goapele, comedy Queens Sommore and Luenell, and to the power couple Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon aka Kindred The Family Soul, this Superlounge was by far the most diverse and captivating.
She is a dual citizen of The United States and Cameroon - and she also possesses the same duality in her music, exuding Pop and Rock elements mixed with soulful breathes of life . Andy Allo started early in music learning from her mother and eventually taking her talents to California, she spread from one mouth to another through performing, eventually getting to the attention of icon and fellow multi-talent, Prince and joining his New Power Generation band. Allo performed to a diverse crowd and slowly engaged them with her voice and guitar performing some music from her recent EP "Hello".
Going along with the theme of comebacks this year (Missy Elliot and Floetry), another R&B star making his way back to music and performing is Omarion. Quickly rising from boy band B2K to solo artist, Omarion's solo projects "O" and "21" lead him to Grammy nominations, the former entering the Billboard 200 as #1. After a hiatus, Omarion returned with "Post To Be" featuring rising star Jhene Aiko and Chris Brown. Needless to say, the Essence crowd was drawn to his set and wanted to hear the classics as well as the new stuff from his recent MMG project "Sex Playlist".
