Discover Allday And Vibe Out To His 'Startup Cult'
We're listening to Allday... All day. Dropping out of art school seemed to work for this urban-flavored Australian artist, as he's been featured on major radio stations, landed on triple j’s Hottest 100 Poll, and debuted an EP at #1 on the AIR chart and #18 in the ARIA Charts. He's been seen performing at heaps of sold out shows and has even snagged official re-works from noteworthy figures like Skizzy Mars.
Today, Allday, celebrates the release of his full-length 16-track LP Startup Cult (iTunes) via Wind-Up Records. Maintaining a good balance between indie textures and soft-grunge hip-hop, this young artist is creating a unique sound for himself.
Conventional Australian hip-hop isn't what you're getting from this artist. The opening track, Got It, will show you just that, as your immediately hit with sounds of a bit more tuneful rap. Taking Hold and closing track Blessings follow this trend. He is often compared to Drake in this sense.
Reminiscent of Spooky Black's instrumentals and vocal direction, Find Me and Milligrams feed off tight percussion and melancholy melodies. Listen closely to Allday's lyrics - it's more than your average hip-hop "bitches and money" mantra. What this album preaches revolves around genuinely human things, like family, peer interaction and random life situations; you're sure to find a true, relatable aspect to him and it makes you want to hear more.
Catchy hooks. Illuminating beats. Charismatic lyrics. Allday is one to keep your eyes (and ears) on. Listen to the full-length LP below.
