Disclosure's Highly Anticipated 'Caracal' Sweeps The Nation
English synth-pop and dance-techno brotherly duo Disclosure released their second full album Caracal (iTunes) today. The Grammy nominated, platinum selling artists have been riding on a wave of success after a phenomenal year of hits, most notably the Sam Smith assisted Latch and work on Mary J. Blige’s The London Sessions (iTunes). Disclosure’s ability to blend soulful vocals with bass-filled techno beats and passionate lyrics have removed the often cold and distancing vibes that permeate the electro-dance scene. This record is absolutely stacked with talent.
Caracal features a slew of featured artists including Gregory Porter, Lorde, and repeat feature vocalists Sam Smith. So far, three official and two promotional singles have been released, including the stand out Willing & Able accompanied by the amazing Kwabs. Kwabs sings “If we’re falling in love, there’ll be nothing above and I won’t give you up, if we’re falling in love.” It's lyrics like this that glide on top of the house-R&B infused rhythms of Disclosure.
Although regarded as an electro duo, there can be an argument made for their neo-soul standing. Associating with acts like Miguel and especially Australia's own Jordan Rakei on Masterpiece, the brothers shows a keen understanding of the pop-soul genre.
Caracal is an incredible listen even for the most electro-adverse music lover. The authenticity of this record is one of its own and will certainly give the avid Disclosure fan exposure to sounds they didn't quite expect. And isn't that what music is all about? The brothers have kept you on your toes with this one. Grab Caracal today and tune into this new wave of electronic music.
